The Coalition for Compounding Excellence (CCE) is a U.S.-based accrediting organization dedicated to advancing patient safety and quality in pharmacy compounding through a modern, risk-based auditing approach. Founded by professionals deeply embedded in the compounding industry, CCE was created in response to growing concerns that traditional checklist-driven inspections often fail to adequately identify and address the highest-risk activities and conditions encountered by compounding pharmacies. CCE’s mission is to help compounding pharmacies achieve safer operations, stronger quality systems, and greater confidence in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

CCE’s accreditation model is grounded in internationally recognized quality and auditing principles, including International Organization for Standardization ICH Q9(R1) Quality Risk Management and ISO 19011-Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems. Rather than assigning equal importance to all observations, CCE evaluates findings based on their potential impact on patients, employees, product quality, regulatory exposure, and operational sustainability. This methodology aligns closely with the broader direction of modern pharmaceutical quality systems and regulatory oversight.

CCE’s audits extend beyond basic USP compliance to examine broader operational and quality-system risks. The organization employs a hybrid audit process that combines structured criteria with auditor-driven, risk-focused investigation. Each client is supported by both a remote evidence-review auditor and an on-site auditor, improving consistency, depth of review, and inspection defensibility.

CCE’s auditing team consists of actual compounding practitioners with deep experience in the field. Our low overhead allows us to offer more total auditor hours devoted to each client, yet at significantly lower prices than our competitors.

Key Attributes:

503A Experts

Audits are conducted by true 503A experts with proven auditing skills. They must have worked in, owned, or have deep auditing experience with compounding pharmacies.

Risk-Based Approach

Follows FDA's Q9(R1) Quality Risk Management approach versus a stricly checklist methodology.

Our Process:

1. Intake and onboarding

2. Preliminary review of submitted evidence

3. On-site thorough Risk-Based audit

4. Accreditation

5. Ongoing interactions, assistance, and                   support

Client Centered Approach

We actively provide pharmacies with information and suggestions that will improve their efficiency and effectiveness.

Low Cost / High Quality

Our low overhead costs allow us to drastically undercut competitor pricing.

See the "Our Method" page for an explanation of "risk-based" auditing and accreditation, and why it is a superior method for protecting your patients, your employees, and your pharmacy.
